"How I Became a Pirate" By Melinda Long

This month we decided to do an audio presentation of a very fun book. Mr. Cunningham's class produced this recording.
Please listen to the book and then answer this question: What is your dream "job" and what would be the pros and cons of having this job?

How I Became a Pirate, the young character enthusiastically goes on a piratehow_I_became_a_pirate.jpg adventure. He quickly learns what he likes and doesn’t like about the "job" of pirate.

This file is 7mb, be patient when waiting for it to load. I promise it is worth it.

Hello Mr. Cunningham's Class,
This is Mrs. Blevins and first I would like to tell you what a great job you did reading the book "How I Became a Pirate." You read with such expression and I loved the sound effects the class made. To answer your question, my dream job, of course, was to become a teacher. Being a teacher was the only job I ever wanted to have. The pro's of this job are getting to listen to wonderful presentations like the one you did on "How I Became a Pirate" and helping students learn. When I became an eMINTS teacher, that was another "pro" for the job because I could help students be creative with their learning through the use of inquiry-based instruction and technology. I am looking forward to hearing and seeing more presentations from your classroom this year. You are very lucky to have Mr. Cunningham as a teacher. Keep up the great job of reading with expression and fluency!
P.S. Due to text being put on top of other text, I deleted the first post and have posted this comment again so it is easier to read.

Dear Mr.C's Class,
I thought you did amzing. Hope you have done a great job reading! Trey You did a great job too. If I had to choose my perfect job it would probbaly be a chemical scientist. I have always wanted to be that from the start. It mostly came from my cousin Allie. Me and her would always mix perfumes and other things together. We always did have fun. I also want to be a chemist because I wanted to find a cure for sicknesses like the bird flu and cancer. WITHOUT DRUGS IN IT!!!
Sincerly,
Kelsie

Hello Mrs. Blevins and Mr. C's class,
Wow! What a great job of setting up this blog with the audio recording of the book!
I put a link to your blogspot in several places on the school website so it will be easier for people to see it.
My dream job is what I am doing right now! I love teaching and helping people learn and watching what people do with what they have learned. This blogspot is a great example of that! The cons are long hours and no extra time, but the pros out weigh the cons by far.

My dream job is to be in a band because the instruments are cool. The pros are it helps you learn to play instruments and the cons are some of your band players may quit and you would have to find new ones.

I want to be a singer because I love to sing, but if I have kids I wouldn't get to spend very much time with them. The pros are you get to go on stage in front of everybody and sing and the cons are if I have kids I wouldn't get to spend very much time with them. Claire

Hi Mr.C's class!
I am Madison and I would love to be an employee at the Humane Socioty because I love animals like dogs and cats and it just fills my heart to be with animals but they can get wild sometimes and they can get a little phisical. An employee at a hotel would be great too because I love cleaning up but working at a hotel may be too much but I could live in the hotel and not be far from work and I might convince them to let me have a dog there. I can also do both part time.

My dream job is to run my own vet shop. It'll take care of any animals. Such as horses, turtles, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals. Now people will be happy, thanks to me for saving their animals! "Oh", did I tell you it is half aquarium? I'm going to build it in Atlanta, Georgia, like the aquarium at Georgia.

My dream job is a veterinarian
because i love pets. It is a good job because you can learn more about pets. The cons would be letting the pets tear up the store.

Hello Mr.C's class,
My name's Joel Garcia. There are three things that I want to be. A Physics engineer, a doctor, or a house designer. The good thing about being a Physics engineer is you get paid alot of money. The bad thing about being a Physics engineer is that you have to make sure that your design is stabled, levled, strong enough for trucks, and that the things that hold up the bridge are not unlevled that is if it is a bridge. The good thing about being a doctor is that you are helping people that are hurt bad. The bad thing about being a doctor is that if there are way to many people in need, than the work days will be longer. The good thing about being a House designer is the community that you live in will grow. the bad thing about being a House designer is when you are building your design, it might fall down.

Mrs. Elwoods class here!
Thank you Mr. Cunningham's class for reading "How I Became a Pirate." We enjoyed the presentation of the book very much!! We created a list of our dream jobs: Model, Actress, Sports star, designer, hunter, farmer, geographer, police officer, president, doctor, cosmetologist, veterinarian, business owner, and comedian. We could not create a list of the pros and cons due to the amount of jobs we created. However, all of the jobs require hard work and most of them require a degree. Thank you and keep up the great reading!!!

Dear Mr.Cunningham's Class,
My name is Kelsie Gibler in 7th grade. You may know Haylie Gibler and she is my sister. I liked your reading of "How i became a Pirate". You all did a very good job!
If I had a dream job it would be a singer or an artist. I'm not that good at drawing so I'd probably be a singer. But if neiter of those work out I'd like to be an Engineer or wrok at the university of Missouri like my mom, but you have to be really smart! I don't know if I can!
Once again, great job on reading that book! Keep reading! I read all the time ( well as muc as my 7th greade schedule will allow! )

Sincerly, Kelsie Gibler
